ISO/PC 283 completed it first meeting in London, UK, hosted by the British Standards Institution, BSI.
Dr Scott Steedman, Director of Standards at BSI, welcomed the delegates to their first meeting, and noted the importance of, and need for, good OH&S practices in today's work environment.
The Chairman of ISO/PC 283, David Smith (from the UK), thanked Dr Steedman before formally opening the proceedings.
The PC agreed to the establishment of a Working Group no.1 to be responsible for the development of the standard. Mr Kristian Glaesel (from Denmark) was appointed as the WG1 Convenor. The Swedish Standards Institute agreed to provide the secretariat support to WG1, through the appointment of Mrs Karen Bagge as Secretary to WG1.
The PC agreed to a 3 year programme for the development of ISO 45001, i.e. with a target for achieving publication by October 2016.
WG1 agreed to circulate a Working Draft of ISO 45001 and to circulate it for consultation among its Experts, prior to its next meeting.
