We are pleased to announce that Leanie du Toit has taken up the role of chair-elect of ISO/TC 283. BSI will formally nominate Leanie to succeed Martin Cottam as chair on 1st May 2025, and in the meantime she and Martin will work together to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities. Leanie is now a member of the TC 283 Chair's Advisory Group.
Leanie is Head of Corporate, Certification and Verification, at the UKs sole national accreditation body, the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). She is an IOSH Chartered Fellow with 25+ years professional OH&S experience working in complex manufacturing and engineering environments, emergency services, higher educational, construction and the energy sector.
Leanie is currently the chair of the BSI OH&S standards committee (the UK "mirror" committee) having been a member of that committee since 2014, so she is already familiar with much of the work of TC 283.
Martin Cottam said: "I have known Leanie for many years, and I am absolutely delighted that BSI has nominated her to be the next chair of TC 283. I'm sure all members of our committee will join me in extending a very warm welcome to her. I'm really looking forward to working with Leanie to ensure a smooth and successful transition of leadership".
