Research about management system certification by Harvard Business School and Duke University has just been released.
The research explores the health and safety performance of organizations certified to OHSAS 18001, the standard that preceded ISO 45001.
The findings show that users of OHSAS 18001 displayed superior health and safety performance and that this increases after certification. The paper concludes that the findings “give credence to the effectiveness of management system standards as a tool to improve performance”.
