The 2nd Regional Consultative Network meeting hosted in Latin America, creating a buzz of excitement for OHS Awareness

Mario Rosales from the national standard body from El Salvador (OSN) and regional representative for Central and South America in the ISO/TC 283 leadership team, recently shared exciting news from the 2nd meeting of the newly established Regional Consultative Network.

The network has been formed to bring together OH&S experts across the region interested in the work of ISO/TC 283.  The aim is to:

  • increase awareness within the region of the importance of OH&S,
  • share knowledge from the work of ISO/TC 283, and
  • strengthen the voice of the region within ISO/TC 283.

Meetings are mainly conducted in Spanish, though some presentations may be given in English.

In this meeting Mario provided an overview of two of the guidance standards currently under development within ISO/TC 283:

  • ISO 45002 which provides general guidance on the implementation of ISO 45001, and
  • ISO 45004 which provides guidance on OH&S performance evaluation.

The meeting was successful in increasing awareness of the work of ISO/TC283, and delegates from Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, and Guatemala were keen that further such webinars be arranged. Topics of interest for future meetings include:

  • ISO 45003 Psychosocial risk assessment, how it is being addressed
  • Culture and safety models/Hearts and minds
