Plenary meeting of TC 258 - September 2024

ISO/TC 258 in Athens Greece to discuss important updates to the development work of  ISO Project, Programme and Portfolio Management standards and other deliverables, during September 2024.

The work of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), is coordinated by groups of experts in technical committees that meet to discuss and develop standards or other deliverables.  These committees meet at regular intervals to make decisions at their plenary meetings. The ISO, Technical committee with responsibility for Project, Programme and Portfolio Management (TC 258), held its last meeting in Athens, Greece during 16th to 20th September 2024.

This 16th ISO TC 258 Plenary was held as an official hybrid meeting, where heads of delegations were afforded the opportunity to participate in person and via virtual means simultaneously.

Chair of ISO/TC 258, Mr Donald Boyer commented at the end of the last plenary, that:

“ISO/TC 258 met in Athens, Greece using the face-to-face/virtual
hybrid meeting method. This method allowed us to maximize participation for those unable to travel to the host country. The week started with two and half days of working group, ad-hoc group and advisory group meetings. These meetings are critical for advancing and managing the work of the
TC.

One ad-hoc group completed a major deliverable that will result in a ballot on potential future work on a requirements standard. Additionally, two working groups completed draft documents that will be circulated to the full TC for comment. The Communications and Marketing Advisory Group met to continue plans for an enhanced web site to be used to support our marketing activities.

The Plenary was also two and half days. In addition to receiving updates on the critical work of the working and ad-hoc groups, the TC heard from the Technical Development Group on emerging trends and important topics affecting the P3M world. These efforts will lead to the development of white papers and other ISO documents.

Additionally, we discussed ongoing product development activities and heard about upcoming new work items to be considered to enhance our product portfolio. Although we have accomplished  a lot, there is still much work to be done and the team is very enthusiastic about the future!

I extend a warm thank you to our host, ELOT/Greece, for a great facility that allowed our teams to work in a comfortable environment that truly made our work easier. Their support provided the necessary meeting infrastructure required to conduct a successful meeting.”
