ISO Publishes New International Standard on Post-Project and Post-Programme Evaluation developed by TC 258/WG 16.
We are pleased to announce the publication of ISO 21513:2026, Project, programme and portfolio management — Guidance on post-project and post-programme evaluation, released on 13 January 2026.
This new International Standard provides comprehensive guidance for the evaluation of projects and programmes after their closure. ISO 21513:2026 offers practical direction for reviewers and contributors, with a focus on:
- Achievement of project and programme objectives
- Realization of intended benefits
- Effectiveness of governance, management, and decision-making across the lifecycle
By promoting consistent and structured evaluation practices, the standard supports organizations in learning from completed initiatives, improving future performance, and strengthening portfolio-level outcomes.
Post-project and post programme evaluation, is important because it is an essential step for organizations striving to improve performance, governance, and outcomes. ISO 21513:2026 supports this by:
- Helping organizations verify whether projects and programmes truly achieved their strategic goals and expected benefits.
- Providing structured guidance that enhances the credibility, objectivity, and usefulness of evaluations — key to making informed decisions about future investments and improvement initiatives.
