ISO 14091 Adaptation to Climate Change – Vulnerability, impacts and risk assessment

ISO/TC 207/SC 7/WG 11

This International Standard provides guidance for assessing the risks related to the impacts of climate change. It describes how to understand vulnerability and how to develop and implement a sound risk assessment and is applicable for assessing both present and future climate change risks.

This International Standard is applicable to any organization, regardless of size, type and nature. It serves to direct their efforts in enhancing climate change adaptation and guides on identifying priorities for climate change adaptation actions.

Risk assessment according to this International Standard provides a solid basis for climate change adaptation planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

ISO 14090, High Level Framework for Adaptation

ISO/TC 207/SC 7/WG 9

This international standard will describe a high-level framework to provide principles, requirements and guidance for activities relating to adaptation to climate change including general, high-level guidance on the integration of adaptation within or across organisations, understanding vulnerabilities and uncertainties.

The basic concepts and terminology in this standard may be applied within public and private organisations, for such functions as 'policy', 'strategy', and 'operations'.

This standard will be applicable at different levels of scale, for example, organisations, communities and regions, as well as for different sectors, and can support more specific adaptation standards.

ISO 14067 Greenhouse gases — Carbon footprint of products — Requirements and guidelines for quantification

ISO/TC 207/SC 7/WG 8 is revising ISO/TS 14067 for upgrading to an International Standard (IS).

The Standard will specify principles, requirements and guidelines for the quantification and reporting of the carbon footprint of a product (CFP), in a manner consistent with International Standards on life cycle assessment (ISO 14044).  Quantification of a partial carbon footprint of a product (partial CFP) will also be discussed. The Standard will address only one impact category: climate change. Offsetting and communication will be outside the scope of this Standard.
