ISO/TC 176/SC 2 held its 53rd plenary meeting in person on 15 October 2026. The meeting provided an opportunity to review progress on current work and agree next steps for future projects.
ISO/TC 176/SC 2 held its 53rd plenary meeting in person on 15 October 2026. The meeting provided an opportunity to review progress on current work and agree next steps for future projects.
Highlights included:
- Recognition of WG29: SC 2 recognised and thanked the members and experts of WG 29 for their contributions to the revision of ISO 9001. WG 29 will hold one further meeting to review the project and discuss lessons learned that can inform future standards development work.
- Revision of ISO 9002: Work on the revision of ISO 9002 is progressing well. The Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) is expected to be issued to the SC 2 members early in 2027.
- Revision of the ISO 9001 handbook for small enterprises: Work is progressing on the revision of the ISO handbook ISO 9001:2015 for Small Enterprises – What to do? Advice from ISO/TC 176 to reflect changes introduced in ISO 9001:2026. If you would like to contribute your views as this work progresses, please contact your National Standards Body or liaison organization.
- Future revision of ISO 9004: Following the publication of ISO 9001:2026, the committee agreed to establish a new Task Group (TG) in 2027 to begin preparations for the potential revision of ISO 9004.
- SC2 performance measures: The committee agreed to continue the development of performance measures to help SC 2 monitor progress against its objectives and support future improvement.
