ISO/TC176/SC2 "SPOTG" recommends that ISO 9001:2015 should be "confirmed"

The SC2 "Strategic Planning and Operations Task Group" (SPOTG) met on 21st March and has since recommended that ISO 9001 should be confirmed. This will now be put to a ballot.

The SPOTG reviewed a number of inputs in reaching it recommendation to confirm ISO 9001:2015, including:

  • the results of the systematic review
  • the results of the ISO 9001 User Survey
  • a report on Future Concepts
  • a report on Brand Integrity
  • a report on the potential impact of the revision of the Annex SL "High Level Structure" on ISO 9001
  • a report on the WG24 Project Review Report
  • verbal reports from country and liaison member

In addition to recommending that ISO 9001:2015 should be confirmed, and noting the extent of the support for a revision of the standards, it has also recommended that a project should be started at the "Preliminary stage", to determine if there is any new evidence for the need for an early revision to the standard, before its next formal review is due in 2025.

The SPOTG also accepted advice that a strategic review of all of the SC's standards should be performed. This will be conducted by the SPOTG itself.

These recommendations will now be put to a ballot of SC2's members
