We reviewed the status of ongoing work within the joint working group and discussed standards that have been published or are currently under ballot.

ISO/TC 10/SC 1/JWG 12 is a joint working group focused on harmonizing Technical Product Documentation (TPD) and Geometrical Product Specifications (GPS). The group’s work centers on aligning standards related to the presentation, representation, and management of technical drawings and product specifications.

We also explored how to present and represent symbols in 3D models, addressing the challenges posed by current methods. This topic will be further discussed later in the week when WG 10 (Working Group 10), responsible for ISO 7083 and the Validation Team for TPD Graphical Symbols, along with WG 16 (Working Group 16), meets to deliberate on the revision of ISO 16792 – Digital Product Definition Data Practices. The ISO 16792:2021 standard specifies requirements for the preparation, revision, and presentation of digital product definition data—referred to as data sets—to complement existing standards. Currently, it supports two application methods:

1. 3D model-only

2. 3D model with a 2D drawing in digital format

In the afternoon, WG 20 (Working Group 20), which is developing standards related to design and documentation for manufacturing, assembly, disassembly, and end-of-life processing, convened. The primary discussion centered around the ongoing work on ISO 8887-3 (Part 3) AWI (Approved Work Item), which focuses on selecting an appropriate end-of-life design strategy.
