ISO/TC 10 WG19 – Harmonization of ISO 129 and ISO 128 series of standards. Our discussions focused on various aspects of the revision and update of ISO 129-1:2018 Technical Product Documentation (TPD) — Presentation of Dimensions and Tolerances, Part 1: General Principles.
ISO/TC 10 WG16 – 3D models: Presentation of product definition data. With the rise of 3D modeling, ISO standards are evolving to support digital workflows. ISO 16792 (closely related to ISO 129 and 128) specifies how 3D models should present dimensional and tolerance data, complementing or replacing traditional 2D drawings in a digital format.
We explored key considerations for the upcoming revision of ISO 16792:2021 Technical Product Documentation — Digital Product Definition Data Practices, which specifies requirements for the preparation, revision, and presentation of digital product definition data. This standard complements existing documentation methods and primarily supports two approaches:
3D model-only
3D model with 2D drawing in digital format
