The new proposals for ISO/NP 25562-1—Mechanical Products Design Optimization and Documentation, Part 1: General Requirements—were successfully discussed, with all comments resolved, allowing the working draft to move into the committee draft stage.
Another novel and highly engaging topic were the presentation and discussion of a proposed work item in the field of digital twins for mechanical product testing. Here, we concluded that it is essential to address the documentation aspects as well as the requirements for verification and validation of digital twins in relation to the physical world.
In the afternoon, SC1, dedicated to the standardization of basic conventions for the representation and data management of technical product documentation, held its session. Discussions and resolutions were made regarding the work on ISO 7083—Symbols Used in Technical Product Documentation: Proportions and Dimensions as well as the work done in the joint working group on TPD and GPS harmonization. There was also discussions, clarification and resolutions around the joint work with IEC on the IEC 82045-part 1 standard, dealing with Document management Part 1: Principles and methods.
