The plenary meeting series officially kicked off on Monday at Standards Norway’s premises in Lilleaker, Oslo.
The first meeting was held by ISO/TC 10/SC 1/JWG 12, focusing on harmonization between ISO/TC 10 and ISO/TC 213. The group has just finalized ISO 20223, “Representation and identification of situation features”, which is now in its final steps before publication. The standard introduces clear rules and graphical symbols for defining situation features (points, lines and planes) in technical product documentation, helping ensure consistent and unambiguous communication.
The group also looked ahead to upcoming work, including discussions on how associativity between specifications and features should best be represented in annotated 3D models.
In the afternoon, WG 20 and JWG 21 continued the program.
WG 20 is advancing ISO 8887-3 on design for end‑of‑life processing. The standard will provide guidance on how to design products for reuse, repair, remanufacture, recycling or disposal, supporting better resource efficiency and long-term value. It is currently being prepared for the CD ballot.
JWG 21 (a joint group with IEC/TC 3) is working on ISO 81355-2, which aims to provide practical examples of document types and presentation formats used in engineering. The work is still in an early stage but will support clearer and more consistent information exchange across disciplines.
