ISO/TC 10 SC6 Plenary meeting (Morning session)
This was the 38:th SC6 - Mechanical Product Documentation - plenary meeting. A number of issues were presented and discussed and we made plenty of resolutions. Among the resolutions one was to disband the WG21 which has developed to new parts of the ISO 24096 Framework for classification of requirements. The group will be disbanded after the FDIS ballot and is scheduled for September 2024. We also received updates on the current progress of the work in WG22 Three-dimensional modeling and WG23 Finite element analysis (FEA). We also reappointed the convenor of WG23 for another three years term. We also made a resolution to start a new preliminary work item proposal (NWIP) which were proposed by China. This proposal is titled: Technical product documentation (TPD) - Mechanical products design optimization and documentation - Part 1:General requirements.

The task force group (TF1) had the opportunity to physically meet and continue the discussion about the future of ISO/TC 10. By future we mean working with the update of our business plan and connecting it with a well-developed technical roadmap. We finally got the chance to end the discussion we could not continue in the last meeting held on the 15:th of June, 2024. Now we have informed the group about the work which needs to be done and a number of TF meetings will be scheduled and held on Zoom. At next year’s plenary meetings in Chengdu, China, a draft proposal of the roadmap will be presented as well as a revised business plan.
The group of experts attending face-to-face in todays meetings got the generous offer to come to visit the Indiana Manufacturing Institute including the CMSC - Composite Manufacturing Modelling and Simulation Center, IN-MaC - Indiana Manufacturing Competivness Center and DEC – Digital Enterprise Center. Many thanks goes to professor Hartman for arranging this very interesting and insightful lab-visit.
