ISO/TC 10/SC6 WG22 Three-dimensional modeling and WG23 Finite element analysis (FEA)  (Morning session)

We discussed a number of issues around the committee draft (CD) document of ISO 24351 Technical product documentation — General requirements of the construction of three-dimensional models for mechanical products. The scope of the standard is that it specifies the general requirements involved in three-dimensional modelling for mechanical products, including the terms and definitions, the general process and requirements for modelling, requirements for model checking and model release. We went through all the comments from the CD ballot. We also discussed the new work item proposal of a standard; Technical product documentation (TPD) - Mechanical products design optimization and documentation - Part 1:General requirements. The experts in the meeting all agreed that this new proposal covers a very interesting area and one that the engineering industry, e.g. automotive industry, aerospace industry etc., is working a lot on now.

ISO/TC 10 WG 18 Drawing and writing instruments and lab-visit (Afternoon session)

Working group 18 (WG18) managed to meet in the afternoon session and went through their work programme and gave updates on the current status.
Later in the afternoon the experts attending face-to-face at the meetings here at Purdue University was given the generous offer to visit various interesting laboratories located in the Dudley Hall building. We got to visit three laboratories and one of those was the smart manufacturing laboratory.
