ISO/TC 10 WG 19 – Harmonization of ISO 129 and ISO 128 series of standards (Morning session)
We discussed a number of issues around the revision and update of ISO 129-1:2018 Technical product documentation (TPD) — Presentation of dimensions and tolerances Part 1: General principles.
One discussion circled around a new proposal from Germany to include symbol for test indicator which in other words mean inspection indicator. That means that we will be able to indicate certain requirements, e.g. classified requirements such as critical to safety, critical to quality etc., on a drawing or a 3D model which is important for inspection. A new proposal will be prepared and a task force (TF) group will be established in our joint working group (JWG) 12 which manage TPD and GPS harmonization between ISO/TC 10 and ISO/TC 213. In the discussion, the ISO standard 23952:2020 Automation systems and integration — Quality information framework (QIF) — An integrated model for manufacturing quality information, was highlighted and we looked at what is defined and specified in terms of inspection indicator in that standard, so that we take into account and harmonize to that standard.
ISO/TC 10 WG 16 – 3D models: Presentation of product definition data (Afternoon session)
We discussed a number of issues around the upcoming revision of ISO 16792:2021 Technical product documentation — Digital product definition data practices. The standard specifies requirements for the preparation, revision and presentation of digital product definition data, complementing existing standards. It supports mainly two methods of application: 3D model-only and 3D model with 2D drawing in digital format. Much of the discussions circled around the classification codes of product definition data sets and if we should make it a mandatory part to be included in the main body of the standard.
