ISO/TC 10 JWG 21 – Work on the ISO 81355 series standards (Morning session)

We discussed the working draft (WD) of ISO/IEC 81355-1 Classification and designation of documents for plants, systems and equipment — Part 2: Examples of information. We are on the move going from Documentation Classification Codes to Information Classification Codes: We discussed its implication and current impact on the well-established and used term; document and documentation within the context of technical product documentation (TPD).
The current scope of the standard includes and will provide examples for presentation and designation of information. The standard will be applicable in the life cycle of a system, e.g., aircrafts, cars, trucks, industrial plants, construction entities and equipment.
The intention and purpose of the standard is to facilitate communication in different fields of application. It will also establish presentation formats enriched with designation and definitions for of that particular information set for the purpose of better transfer, including document interchange between different parties, and to fulfil the requirement in ISO 7200:2004, IEC 61082 and IEC 82045-2, to accomplish presentation of information and to support search and/or retrieval.

ISO/TC 10 /SC 1/WG 10 – Revision of ISO 7083 TPD Graphical symbols (Afternoon session)

We discussed issues around the new revision of ISO 7083 TPD Graphical Symbols standard and the proposal of a new convenor for the working group.
We received an interesting presentation from two UK experts about; Graphical symbols for the technical product documentation of Shape Transforming (4DP) parts. The rationale is; in response to the need for designers to clearly express the required shape transformation of a 4D Printed (4DP) part, the proposal aims to graphically represent the transformation of a non-rigid body´s shape between its restrained and unrestrained states.
