Two guides have been produced by SC 31. They are publicly and freely available.

The “Overview of SC 31 standards related to bar codes and encoded data” presents the basic concept of bar code scanning and related standards, aiming to assist readers who may not be familiar with the subject.

Similarly, the “Overview of SC 31 standards related RFID and encoded data” covers how RFID works, common applications, a comparison of RFID technologies, data structures and encodings, and includes a reference list of relevant ISO/IEC standards with a focus on passive UHF technology (ISO/IEC 18000-63).
