A short report regarding international standardization efforts at the Offshore Technology Conference in May 2019.
International standardization efforts in ISO/TC 67 and IOGP was highly visible at the Offshore Technology Conference in May 2019 upon a new succesful technical session “Standardization in the Offshore Industry”. The technical session was chaired by ISO/TC 67/WG4 convenor Runar Østebø (Equinor, Norway) and Hoseong Daniel Lee (American Bureau of Shipping, USA). Seven speakers from a wide range of companies gave presentations. This included IOGP Project Director JIP33, Adri Postema presenting the IOGP JIP33 project - Standardization of procurement equipment specifications. Various standardization related papers were given on offshore projects, bulk materials and use of ISO 14224 standard for safety and profitability purposes, and other speakers gave presentations on innovative subsea technology and operations including digitalization. The session attracted and was well received by the many participants (60+ persons) on the last afternoon of this 50 year’s anniversary event. It was a great opportunity to disseminate the international standardization work delivered and in progress.
