From 19 to 23 October 2026, ISO/TC 59 Buildings and civil engineering works will gather in Oslo and Sandvika, Norway, for a full week of meetings, discussions and international collaboration.
This year’s Plenary Week will be particularly special. In addition to meetings across ISO/TC 59 and its subcommittees, we will open the week with a conference bringing together international ISO experts and representatives from the Norwegian building and construction sector. We will also celebrate 80 years of ISO/TC 59 with a reception at Oslo City Hall.
The week starts on Monday 19 October with the conference “How can standards contribute to a sustainable, resilient and digital building and construction sector?” at the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in Oslo.
The half-day conference will bring together experts from industry, the public sector and the international standardization community to explore practical insights and future opportunities for the built environment.
Participation is free of charge for all ISO/TC 59 experts, and we warmly encourage participants attending the Plenary Week to join us.
Conference: Building for the Future
ISO/TC 59 celebrates 80 years
2026 also marks an important milestone for ISO/TC 59. To celebrate 80 years of international standardization and collaboration, participants are invited to a special reception at Oslo City Hall on the evening of 19 October.
The reception will provide an opportunity to mark the history of ISO/TC 59 and the international cooperation that continues to shape standards for buildings and civil engineering works.

A full week of ISO/TC 59 meetings
From 20 to 23 October, meetings will take place at the Kunnskapssenteret in Sandvika, including subcommittee and working group meetings, plenary meetings and open forums.
The week concludes with the ISO/TC 59 Plenary on Friday 23 October.
