Information and documentation- Issues and considerations for managing records in structured data environments
At the May 2021 Plenary, TC46 SC11 resolved to begin the process of creating a technical report, ISO/AWI TR 8344, Information and documentation- Issues and considerations for managing records in structured data environments. The resolution created Work Group 22 (WG22) to accomplish this task.
The new project aims to provide a landscape review of records management in structured environments and a gap analysis that identifies problems as well as provides high-level recommendations for addressing them through alignment of established records management concepts with specific concerns about characteristics of emerging technologies as well as, societal, governance and business trends.
The target audience of this document includes records managers and allied professionals; IT professionals and application developers; legal and compliance professionals; researchers; educators; and other interested parties.
WG22 plans to organize two open workshops in 2022 and call for collaborations with relevant standards development organizations (SDOs), potential themes of the workshops are “Insights from SDOs and Practice on records management in structured data environment” and “Standards collaboration on records management in structured data environment”.
The report is expected to be completed within a 24 month timeframe with Xiaomi An (SAC) as Convenor from 2021-2023 and Wenlin Bai (SAC) as Project Leader.
