Qualitative properties are important properties measured in various fields of technology. In 2015, ISO/REMCO summarized and published the state-of-the-art productions of reference materials (RMs) for qualitative properties. Since then, the field of qualitative RMs evolved, leading to the production of an International Standard for the production of qualitative RMs, ISO 33406:2024. The newly published ISO 33406:2024 outlines provisions for the production of qualitative RMs.
Following publication of ISO 33406:2024, ISO/TC 334 identified the need to revise ISO/TR 79 in accordance with the provisions of ISO 33406:2024. Therefore, ISO/TC 334 resolved in 2025 to initiate the revision of ISO/TR 79. The working group that contributed to the preparation of ISO 33406, WG 13, was asked to prepare a revised version of ISO/TR 79.
ISO/TR 79 is currently at the AWI stage, and a working draft (WD) is being prepared.
