New Delhi highlights
The 5th TC309 plenary took place in November, shortly after the nation’s Diwali celebrations.
TC309 had its 5th plenary during the week of 3rd November 2019 in New Delhi, India.
The committee has shown a tremendous growth in international interest and membership. 72 countries are now involved as well as 23 international organizations.
Strengthening and promoting participation by developing countries has been an area of focus for the Chairman, Howard Shaw and the results are starting to be seen. The Developing Countries Coordination Group (DCCG) has been created and developing countries now comprise 60% of the committee’s involved countries.
Key project activities included the following:
ISO 37000 Guidance for the Governance of Organizations
- Disposition of comments commenced and work towards the release of a first Draft International Standard was initiated
ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery Management Systems
- The final draft of the new guidance handbook was approved and it is now planned that the handbook will be published during the first quarter of 2020
ISO 37002 Whistleblowing Management Systems
- Work is steadily progressing with 25 expert members in attendance at this meeting, representing 16 countries, as well as two liaison organizations
ISO 19600 Compliance Management Systems
- The revision is well underway and preparation towards the release of a Draft International Standard has commenced
Several investigations were approved for various standards within the committee’s scope, including one for a governance maturity model and another for indicators for governance, accountability and decision-making. A potential proposal for a standard on anti-fraud controls is expected in quarter 1 or 2 of 2020.
The next plenary is due to take place in November 2020.
