ISO 37301:2021 Compliance Management Systems – Requirements with guidance for use published on 13 April 2021. The standard is based on the principles of good governance, proportionality, transparency and sustainability, and specifies requirements and provides guidance for an effective and responsive compliance management system within an organization. It applies to all organizations whether in the public, private or not-for-profit sectors.
Yiyi Wang, Director, China National Institute of Standardization, and co-Convenor of the working group that developed ISO 37301, welcomed its publication. “ISO 37301 sets a global benchmark for compliance management towards providing a systematic method for organizations to improve their own compliance management capabilities. Thank you to all the experts who worked with us to develop the standard."
Howard Shaw, Chair of TC309 notes that compliance is not just about avoiding fines and should not be limited to one department. It is everyone's affair. "Organizations want to work and collaborate with companies they can trust," he said. "And trust is built on a company culture of doing the right thing; where every employee contributes because they understand and believe in the importance of that culture. Central to this is good leadership and clear values, which have to come from the top. "
