ISO 18646-2, Robotics — Performance criteria and related test methods for service robots — Part 2: Navigation

This International Standard will describe methods of specifying and evaluating the navigation performance of mobile service robots.


This project was initiated to provide the evaluation procedure for navigation of mobile robot, after we started the locomotion performance of wheeled robot.  We plan to develop “manipulation performance”, “exoskeletal robot performance”, “HRI”, “energy efficiency”, etc, in the future.

ISO 18646-2 is intended to facilitate understanding on navigation performance of mobile service robots between users and manufacturers. lt defines the important performance characteristics, describes how they shall be specified, and recommends how they should be tested.
