Dr. Changhua FANG, the ISO/TC 296 Committee Manager, said during the side meeting in IUFRO World Congress 2019.
The theme of the 25th International Union of Forestry Research Organization World Congress 2019 is “Forest Research and Cooperation for Sustainable Development”, which launched in Curitiba, Brazil during 29 September - 5 October 2019. ISO/TC 296 Committee Manager Dr. Changhua FANG hosted a side meeting on “Innovative Utilization of Bamboo and Rattan Resources”.
Chinese specialists made a series of presentations including key factors in the achievement of Chinese bamboo industry, microfibril angle of bamboo, deposition of lignin from bamboo fiber cells, etc. Moreover, experts from India shared their traditional bamboo fiber methods of Mechanical separation, while the Kenya specialist introduce a performance analysis of bamboo charcoal made of variety of bamboo in local area. For sustainable development, a Brazil specialist reported a Bamboo-Wood Composite Material using in pavilions of bus stop; and the expert from Philippines shared ideas about how they restored local Abandon Mineral Area by using different kinds of bamboo.
Dr. Changhua FANG introduced what ISO/TC 296 do and called out every expert from different countries joining us for advancing standardization work of bamboo and rattan industry in the meeting.
