"While we know that there is not a 'one size fits all' solution to FM, standards provide guidelines for facility managers - a place to start to find solutions to their challenges."
At IFMA’s World Workplace Phoenix in October 2019, we were able to catch up with IFMA’s board of directors and chair of the IFMA Standards Committee, Mindy Williams-McElearney.
As the administrator for the U.S. Mirror Committee on behalf of ANSI, IFMA has been a strong supporter of FM standards and the work of ISO/TC 267. IFMA regularly holds educational sessions to promote the adoption of standards among its members.
Stan Mitchell, Chair to ISO/TC 267, has said, "FM practitioners require a rare mix of specialist technical skills, rounded business understanding, and general management expertise. We are now in a position to provide consistency for the profession internationally and to provide a framework for standards on a worldwide scale."
Read his interview with CIFMers to learn about the impact of the current work of the ISO technical committee for Facility Management, ISO/TC 267.
