Earlier this year we launched a Terminology page for the global HR and KM communities, TC 260 standards users and standards developers. The page is home to the website list, a downloadable and authoritative collection of TC 260 term entries.
We are planning to add a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section. It will cover terminology basics (for example, did you know that notes to entry are not part of a definition?), guidance for standards developers (such as which parts of an existing term entry can be changed) and much more.

About the website list:
The website list:
- Contains current published TC 260 term entries, arranged alphabetically by English term. It is the most accurate and up-to-date source of TC 260 terminology. Every term entry has been agreed by working group consensus and approved through TC 260 and ISO publication processes.
- Is updated whenever a new or revised standard is published, making it more current than the TC 260 vocabulary standard.
- Is a simplified view of the terminology group's termbase. While the termbase contains all published TC 260 term entries, including multiple versions created during development and revision, the website list includes only the most accurate and widely applicable version of each term entry.
- Identifies Known Improvement Opportunities (KIOs), highlighting term entries the terminology group believes could be improved. The absence of a KIO flag does not guarantee that a term entry is perfect. Reviewing and flagging entries is an ongoing process.
- Identifies term entries used in Management Systems Standards (MSS), which are controlled by ISO.
- Does not include term entries from standards that are still under development, as they have not yet completed their journey through the consensus and approval process.
What do the flags mean?
The flags are designed to help both standards developers and standards users.
For developers, KIO indicates that a revised version of the term entry would be beneficial. MSS indicates that the term entry is controlled by ISO and should not be changed.
For users, KIO means that we recognise the entry needs improvement. MSS means that ISO maintains the term entry.
