InTeRSeC 41 – The importance of the measurand in ISO GPS

Two days of ISO GPS-related seminars are scheduled on 2021‑12‑02/03. The participation mode is hybrid, that is, attendance either face‑to‑face or via Zoom is possible.
On 2021‑12‑02, two tutorials will be held:
- Commonalities of the numerous Parts of the ISO 10360 series (GPS — Acceptance and reverification tests for coordinate measuring systems (CMS)): principles, concepts, goals.
- Reading technical drawings, particularly the tolerances therein: an introduction to tolerancing according to the ISO GPS.
On 2021‑12‑03, a seminar–named InTeRSeC 41–will be held on the importance of the measurand in ISO GPS verification.
The specifications of parts are given in drawings or CAD models in the form of tolerances. This specifications are to be verified by measurement. Most tolerances are not intended to define what should be measured (the measurand) rather the tolerance zones the real surface must lay within. On the other hand, whoever wants to measure anything must be crystal clear on what he/she wants to measure–the measurand in fact.
The seminar will help bridging the gap between specification and verification, in the attempt of supporting metrologists in their verification activity.
The event is organised by the CMM Club Italia, a non‑for‑profit Italian society aiming at promoting awareness on coordinate measurements. As most of these measurements are aimed at verifying parts, the correct understanding of the ISO GPS is crucial.
The seminar is part of a series named InTeRSeC, at its 41st instance. Some of them are part of a collection named Per‑Corso GPS. Corso means course in Italian, and Percorso means path or route. The Per‑Corso GPS is in between a distributed course (over subsequent seminars) and a journey within the ISO GPS. InTeRSeC 41 is the 7th leg of this journey.
