Welcome to the Blog

ISO Standards are a key part of our society as they ensure quality and safety in both products and services in international trade. Businesses and public administrations can be seen to benefit from ISO standards as they can help cut costs by improved systems and procedures put in place. The standards are developed by groups of experts from all over the world, that are part of larger groups called technical committees, like ours dealing with geographic information and geomatics. Those experts are further working in several working groups, advisory groups, joint advisory groups etc. where they negotiate all aspects of the standards, including their scope, key definitions and content. This work requires a great deal of cooperation and sacrifice on the part of the experts. With this blog, we would like to bring the work of experts on various projects in many working groups closer to the general public.
