A large majority of the voting members approved the 2018 Strategic Business Plan for ISO/TC 210, without a single negative vote! Document ISO/TC 210 N 1009, summarizing the ballot outcome, shows there was not even a comment submitted suggesting that the extensive preparatory work done by the secretary and chair of the TC, together with the leadership and a selected group of critical reviewers, have done a good job.
It is an ISO requirement that each TC periodically reviews its Strategic Business Plan. SBPs describe for each TC their work domain, context in which they operate, rationale for their work items, and potential work foreseen for the near future. Following the publication of ISO 13485:2016 and the Practical Guide to that standard, the existing SBP for ISO/TC 210 had to be fairly extensively updated. The 2018 SBP will form the basis of the activities within ISO/TC 210 for the next years.
