ISO 14031 and its application at an AVAG waste treatment facility at Lake Thun, Switzerland.
The KVA Thun plant processes 100,000 tons of combustible waste every year, serving a total of 300,000 residents in 150 communities. The facility is located on Lake Thun, in a city which is known for its snow-clad mountains and picturesque landscapes. Because of this particular attention was paid to ecological and safety engineering concerns.
PD Dr Peter Gresch presents how ISO 14031 was used to provide an effective way to implement Environmental Performance Indicators in a coherent, transparent and cost effective way in the implementation of
- Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001);
- Environmental Declarations (ISO 14025);
- Environmental Labelling (ISO 14020, ISO 14021, ISO 14024); and
- Life Cycle Assessment (ISO 14040; ISO 14044).
