ISO/TC 207/SC4/WG4 is working to upgrade ISO/TS 14033:2012 - Quantitative environmental information into a full international standard.
The purpose of this standard is to provide guidance for those that work with acquiring, compiling and reviewing quantitative data needed for the different systems, methods and tools of the ISO 14000-series of standards.
The systematic review focuses on
- integrating the document more clearly with the relevant ISO 14000-standards by developing relevant examples,
- providing guidance on more of the concepts and terms relating to quantitative information and data in relevant ISO 14000-standards,
- correcting figure 1, and actualize the document to relate to new standards developed since the currently published version was developed.
During 2016 and 2017, the Working Group has further developed the main text of the document ISO 14033, and has developed new examples. The main text has been developed to more clearly describe key concepts, such as foreground and background data, primary and secondary data, as well as both how to apply the framework in a more general way and how the framework supports in review of quantitative information. Examples have been more clearly streamlined according to the framework, and they are presented in a more consistent way. The development of examples is intended to be emphasized during 2017 and 2018.

At the June 2017 TC207 plenary meeting at Halifax, Canada, the working group will hold a two hour workshop (pdf file on workshop), presenting both the general purpose of the document, as well as presenting early versions of some of the examples that will be compiled in the annex of the standard.
