The long awaited publication of ISO 14001:2015 occurred today 15 September 2015
ISO press release - "One of the world's most popular standards for environmental management has just been revised, with key improvements that make it fit for the future. ISO 14001:2015, which sets out the requirements for an environmental management standard, is one of the world’s most widely used standards and a key business tool for many organizations. With more than 300 000 certificates issued globally every year, it ranks high on the agenda of many organizations worldwide who place importance on their environmental impact."
At a celebration event in New Delhi India Dr Anne-Marie Warris chair of the ISO sub-committee with responsibility for ISO 14001 thanked all the experts that had participated in the revision process and helped to bring the standard up to date and fit for 21st century. She also thanked the leadership of the working group of experts and gave them a small token of her personal gratitude for their energy, enthusiasm, commitment and dedication to building consensus and achieving an outcome the experts can all be proud off.
At the same event the USA Technical Advisory Group presented awards to Horacio Martirena, Katherina Wührl and Mike Henigan who were part of the leadership team for the revision of ISO 14001:2015 which was carried out in WG. At an event in USA prior to the celebration event Susan LK Briggs the project leader was awarded the US Technical Advisory Group Leadership Award.
ISO press release continues "... newly revised version has just been published, to ensure it remains relevant to the marketplace. ISO 14001:2015 responds to the latest trends, such as an increasing recognition by companies of the need to factor in both external and internal elements that influence their impact, including climate volatility."
