ISO/TC 173/SC 1
Wheelchairs
The ISOTC173, Sub-committee 1 is responsible for developing standards on wheelchairs and other products associated with the use of wheelchairs. Standards under this sub-committee range from those that address the manufacturing of wheelchairs, testing of wheelchairs for performance and durability, and seating products such as cushions. These working groups are busy developing standards on wheelchairs and restraint systems for use in motor vehicles, seating cushions for use on wheelchairs, battery chargers for motorized wheelchairs. The purpose of these standards is to ensure that assistive products used by persons with disabilities are of good quality and are safe to use. Standards are being developed by experts in the field drawn from standards bodies from across the world. The conditions of users are always taken into consideration during the development of standards. Interested parties are always welcome to contribute to the process by any member of the team in SC1
