Objective
Under ISO’s strategic programme Customer Matters we have launched a series of workshops dedicated to standard users’ needs.
Our main goal is to establish a permanent channel of communication - a forum - to meet Customers and learn more about their current experiences, challenges and future expectations around standardization.
We are keen to explore a variety of customer needs by regions, types of needs, audiences, and walk Customer journeys together. After doing so, we aim to improve and evolve through the smooth incorporation of users’ needs into ISO’s current projects, programmes and operational processes.
We are looking forward to this exciting collaboration.

Target Audience
As part of the workshops programme there will be a series of presentations and a panel discussion. We are seeking to have at least one participant (customer) per region make 15-20 mins. presentations each, and at least one participant (customer) per region to be part of the panel discussion.

José Ignacio is Head of Standards Development at ISO. He is one of the leaders driving the revision and adoption of ISO/IEC Guide 17 for writing standards taking into account the needs of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises

SME journey in standardization
Leading the ISO TC255 Biogas WG3 for household biogas systems on behalf of Israel standards institute for the last 4 years. Since 2016, led the certification and safety of HomeBiogas products, managed Horizon 2020 EU projects and served as the customer support manager of the company. Today, product and project manager of on-site biogas systems at HomeBiogas.

Improving usability of ISO standards by M&SMEs
Kenneth has over 40 years’ experience starting as an engineering apprentice; journeying through sales, marketing, training, and then technology. He worked for Honeywell-Bull, Hanover Education and PwC, before becoming a Strategic consultant; then Board roles for Chandler Macleod, Fluid Oil, and Fusion Experience. The last four years have been focused on Governance, Risk and Compliance, particularly towards Micro and SME organizations.

The role of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) in bridging the gap with SMEs
Ioannis is a continuous improvement advocate and is passionate about organizational excellence through quality leadership. He has been working with ISO standards and has created management systems to support organizational objectives. Ioannis currently works at KAUST Core Labs, the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia, where he leads the development, deployment, and continuous improvement of management systems.

Mr. Bhardwaj is an information technology professional with more than 15 years of specialization in data security and privacy. He is responsible for providing leadership, management, and strategy for all aspects of information security, global privacy, and data security. At Kroll he has taken a holistic approach in building an information security and privacy program to support the firm’s global operations and clientele. He is also part of Kroll ESG committee and leads various initiatives on sustainability reporting and growth.

Noelia is Head of sustainability at ISO.
She is leading the ISO sustainability programme, which is at the moment specifically focused on climate change and diversity & inclusion components.

Role of technology in compliance – Customer perspective
Fernando has been active in the standards world since 2006, playing various roles since then. His technology career started as customer when, in 1999, he moved to the technology provider side. Fernando is member of JTC 1/SC 27 as delegate, and JTC 1/SC38 and JTC 1/SC 40 where he acts as Head of Delegation. Fernando is also Convenor of JTC 1/SC 38/WG 5 since 2014. In 2021 Fernando was appointed as Chairman of the ABNT/CB-021 Brazilian Committee on Information Technologies and Digital Transformation.

Challenges in standardization for SMEs of Peru
Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Lima in the areas of innovation, MSME management, cluster, biodiversity, sustainability, circular economy, humanitarian logistics, technology in the development of new materials and processes in the textile industry, fashion and handicrafts.

The mutual integration of technological innovation and standardization
Ye Chen received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Zhejiang University, China, in 2018 and 2021, respectively. She is currently a researcher with the Research Center for Standardization, Zhejiang Lab. Her research interests include power system operation and planning, and the standardization of intelligent system.
Zhejiang Lab is focusing on five areas including intelligent perception, artificial intelligence, intelligent computing, intelligent networks, and intelligent systems, and carries out research on cutting-edge and fundamental topics, explores key technologies, develops core systems, and builds large-scale technology infrastructure and major research platforms.
