Alcance

ISO/IEC JTC 4/SC 4 is being supported administratively by IEC. All information related to ISO/IEC JTC 4/SC 4 is available on the IEC web site

Standardization of system aspects of smart and sustainable cities and communities encompassing the following work:

• Developing detailed descriptions of city systems and domains, their stakeholders and the needs of the different stakeholders for standards.
• Facilitating the interaction, synergy, and integration of city and community components and domains.
• Establishing general methods and requirements for system architecture design, concept systems and consistent terminology development, model development, process optimization, and cross-sectoral collaboration.
  • Formulating technical specifications, technical reports, and international standards, with the aim of:
  • Supporting effective collaboration within JTC4, and more widely in ISO and IEC, to address standardization needs in a synergistic way.
  • Guiding cities on how to implement holistic smart and sustainable city strategies and to assemble packages of standards to enhance the overall synergy, resilience, and sustainability of urban development.
  It will also act as a focal point within JTC4 for the role of electrotechnology in supporting the integration, interoperability and effectiveness of city systems. In addition, the Subcommittee:
  • will act as the Centre of Expertise within JTC4 on the systems approach.
  • will actively collaborate with other groups within JTC4 on standards work related to the systems approach.
  • will collaborate with committees outside of JTC4 to draw on their specialist expertise and to help inform their work on standards relating to smart and sustainable cities and communities.
